Fair question, and we'd rather answer it straight than let you wonder.
The honest version is that the early rate doesn't cover what it costs to run this. Hosting, engineering, support, keeping the directory faith-focused and free of spam, and the ads and church partnerships that bring Christian customers to your listing. We held the price low anyway while the directory was still filling up, because we think the people who go first should pay the least.
As more owners join, serving everyone well costs more than it used to. So the rate moves up for the people joining next. That's by design, not a surprise, and we've said from the start it would work this way.
If you're already a member, this does not affect you. The rate you joined at is yours for as long as your membership stays active. Not your rate now and more later. We are not going to move you onto a higher price just because a higher one exists.
If you're joining today, the same promise covers you. The rate you come in at locks for you too, even after it rises again for the people who come later.
We'd rather tell you the price is moving and why than raise it quietly and hope nobody notices.
If you want to know exactly what rate you're on or what you're being charged, just ask. We'll pull up your account and tell you plainly.
